Whether you’re new to mixing or looking to refine your skills, this course delivers practical guidance on using industry-standard equipment, reading the crowd, and elevating your unique style.
In this course, you’ll start by meeting your mentors, whose combined experience in event production and live performances adds depth to every lesson. Continuing on, you’ll explore each essential component of the DJ controller, familiarizing yourself with volume, tempo, EQ knobs, filters, and the jog wheel. With a mix of video lessons, supplemental materials, and practice exercises, each module ensures you gain hands-on knowledge and confidence with your chosen DJ equipment.
As the course progresses, you'll dive into mixing techniques, covering topics like beats, bars, and the critical skill of phrase stacking. Utilizing the Order of Operations as your guide, you’ll learn a foolproof approach to beat matching, queuing, and transitioning smoothly from track to track. To bring it all home, a series of guided mini-mixes will help you refine your own practice, preparing you to command any crowd.

Do I need DJ equipment to take this course?
Answer:
You'll need at least a DDJ-400 or DDJ-FLX4 controller and Rekordbox software (free when purchasing Pioneer controllers). We walk you through everything in the Equipment Overview lesson.

How long does the course take?
Answer:
The video lessons are short and focused—you can get through the core material in one sitting (2-3 hours). Then it's all about practice to reinforce what you've learned. We also recommend following along with your own equipment during the Transitions lesson.

Is this course for complete beginners?
Answer:
Absolutely. We start from zero and help you build a solid foundation of skills that set you up for long term success—if you can tap your foot to a beat, you can learn to mix.
